I Am David is the story of a twelve year old boy, David (Ben Tibber), who escapes from one of Stalin’s concentration camps in Bulgaria. He has with him a sealed letter that he is to take to Denmark to secure his freedom. Having grown up in prison his emotions are stunted and his mistrust of others is profound. He has memorized instructions to use his compass to go southwest into Greece, take a ship to Italy and head north to Denmark. As his journey progresses David discovers his emotions and learns to trust some of the people he meets along the way.
