When sick Leona Stevenson (Barbara Stanwyck) needs to make a phone call, she picks up the phone to dial. The problem is that she hears voices in the heat of a discussion on the other end. The discussion involves the planning of a murder. Frantic, Leona tries to get to the bottom of the plot by having the phone company trace the mysterious call. At first she does not realizes that her husband (Burt Lancaster) may well be at the center of the plot and that the murder may very well be her own. Confined to bed, will Leona be able to save her life? |
