Joe Scheffer (Tim Allen) is depressed, divorced, unfulfilled and has a severely damaged self image. Scheffer has seemed to take the back road to a ‘successful’ life. He is basically alone against the world except for the only thing that is special in his life, his daughter, Natalie (Hayden Panettiere). One day he has a life changing encounter at work during a ‘Bring your daughter to work day’ when he is embarrassed by Mark McKinney (Patrick Warburton) a run of the mill office bully. Joe feels crushed but rebounds after he’s convinced that another confrontation is necessary to ‘win’ back his self image. The word gets around the office and the neighborhood. While others are impressed with this new Joe, his daughter is not. This new found popularity fuels his new found confidence and purpose. However, this change in character is not completely for the better. After weeks of training Joe must weigh the benefits of this new found popularity with the approval and love of his daughter.
